The all new Caretta by Detroit Mint. Caretta is the Latin term for Sea Turtle. This is Detroit Mint's third and most refined version of the turtle dive watch (Replaces the Islander Model). We have updated and improved several features of this watch. Most notably, all Caretta dive watches now come with a sapphire crystal and a non PIP bezel insert very similar to the origional Captain Willard style 6105. The Caretta Turtle Dive Watch features the new Detroit Mint logo and signed screw down crown. The image of the "Caretta Caretta" sea turtel is laser inscribed on the screw down case back. Caretta is also the scientific genius name for this loggerhead sea turtle. Nice nerd fact for anyone who asks about the watch. The movement is a Seiko Instruments NH35A that is one of the most durable and easiest to service time keepers on the market. The Detroit Mint dial features applied indicies, chrome date window bezel, and just a hint of red on the 200m depth marking that matches the stop light second hand. This classic 44mm sized 6105 style stainless steel watch case is updated with all of the most durable and reliable features and modern materials available. A highly refined modern version of the classic turtle dive watch that was used by many professional divers, special forces units, and was featured in Appocolypse now as seen on the character Captain Willard.
