NEW LEON GOODMAN LIMITED EDITION OF PAINTING Valhalla asgard Beowulf & Grendel

Incredible new Goodman Quality Edition on Canvas! "Beowulf and Grendel" By Leon Goodman. This unusual Edition of the painting "Beowulf and Grendel" capturing Beowulf fighting the First Battle against the Cannibalistic monster Grendel.

In Beowulf, Grendel invades Heorot, the mead-hall of the Danes, and makes it uninhabitable. Beowulf leaves Geatland to defeat the monster bare-handed and succeeds.

Beowulf begins with the story of King Hroðgar, who built the great hall Heorot for his people. In it he, his wife Wealhþeow, and his warriors spend their time singing and celebrating, until Grendel (angered by the singing) attacks the hall and kills and devours many of Hrothgar's warriors.

Hrothgar and his people, helpless against Grendel's attacks, abandon Heorot. Beowulf, a young warrior, hears of Hrothgar's troubles and leaves his homeland to help Hrothgar. Finally, Beowulf tears Grendel's arm from his body and Grendel runs home to die. Beowulf had a magical sword called Hrunting that is seen here lipping in the water.

There have been many interpretations of the monster Grendel most famously in the film the 13th warrior where the Band of Vikings fight cannibalistic monsters called the wendol or creatures of the mist........... Leon Goodman has been a professional artist for the majority of his working life. Leon's philosophy is that it is not the delineation of the subject which is important, but its fragmentation. He believes a strictly photographic image does not allow the viewer to participate in the painting.

If the image is fragmented, the viewer can imagine for himself the missing parts and involve himself in the creation of the whole image. The viewer has seen his own interpretation of the fragmented images; the next viewer may see something different.
